Key to Symbols Used in Pedigrees
Colors
- Blu = Blue (dilute of black)
- BluBr = Dilute brindle
- Br or brdl = Brindle
- Dd = Dilution gene status: dd is a dilute dog. Dd is a nondilute dog who carries the dilute gene. DD does not carry dilute.
- Fn = Fawn
- Msk = black (or blue) mask or muzzle
- Rd = Red
- Sable = presence of black hairs intermixed with red or fawn hairs on the body.
- Seal black is a genetic variation of black characterized by very dark brown coat color with black nose leather and eye rim pigment.
- w or wh = White
